I've been toying with the idea of some sort of Solarpunk/Library Socialism Movement in St. Louis for a while. I do not feel like any current organization deals with the specific issues I'm concerned with in a comprehensive, local way.

As a result, I have a vision I've been toying with that I feel ready to share: nextcloud.nullarch.com/s/qkkis

I'm very open to feedback or interest in this idea/project.

One of the interesting things about living somewhere with absolutely inept snow-handling city services is that every storm that has accumulation is like an experiment in traffic re-alignment. #StLouis has so many double lane roads (in both directions) that are effectively reduced to single lanes in each direction when it snows and people stick to the one clear path. And you know what? It doesn't make any difference in how fast I get across town. Would be so easy to replace one or two of those lanes with bike lanes and tree-lined walking paths.

The first snow was over a week ago, the last snow was Friday. This is the most frequent and highest capacity route in the city. Every stop looks like this. This says "this city doesn't care about pedestrians".

Rode the bus (well, two buses) to work today. Had to get up fairly early. Had an interesting conversation with a stranger at one stop, and ran into a friend at the second. Watched the sunrise, didn't have to park. Pretty good experience for $2.
