We went for a walk last week through the forest above Llanelltyd. We walked past the old gold mine and we saw a lot of moss on the walls and the trees.
Whew! I knew this was going to be a tricky replanting and it was but went more smoothly than I'd expected. This mini bog started out in 2023 as a random throwing things together with different Sundew seed stalks, moss and some Butterworts in a Tupperware-type container using coconut coir as the growing medium and I actually didn't expect it to survive. It seemed to (mostly) do okay and it was time to move it to a larger container.
Despite frost on the ground yesterday there were some mushrooms that were keen and eager to get their spores out into the world. I like the moss colour contrast to them.

Came down to help my parents out a bit. They’ve both got something with a dry cough and aches.
This sculpture has changed logs at least once. This one has some nice moss and lichen going.
Alright, all you #wetland lovers - I'm digging all the #MarshMadness photos you're sharing, but I hope you're also preparing for #Swamptember and #Bogtober this fall and #Fenuary early next year!
Let's make this happen.
Pixie-cup lichen (Cladonia sp.) and Sand-loving Iceland lichen (Cetraria arenaria).
A member of the genus Plagiomnium. This one I am fairly sure of, even though it’s the first observation of these genus on iNat in quite a big radius around here!
You can really see how thin those one-cell-thick leaves are here
Dipped briefly into news over lunch, decided to go on a mosshog hunt instead. Good call I think.
I think this one is a feather moss of some sort, but not quite sure
