It's very important to note, though, that those are not the words he said. I think it's also important to note what else he actually did say, that the media is not covering.

That he takes issue with how people are talking down on vulnerable, marginalized communities.

That he denounces the current Democratic party strategy of laying low and performing a "strategic retreat" and just waiting for Trump to push voters their way as a losing one.

That he believes there ought to be space in the Democratic Party for imperfect allies who might not pass every single ideological purity test, but maybe enough to protect some critical policies as opposed to losing every battle.

Actions speak so much louder than words. But even if one were to interpret Newsom’s words on his podcast today in the worst possible light-- that he harbors outright hatred for this inseparable, cherished part of the LGBT community?

Then, all the more credit to him for setting aside such vile, reprehensible views to prioritize the will of his constituents. For governing not by personal bias, but by the duty to lead with their interests in mind.

That is what politicians ought to do.

Democratic California governor Gavin (secretly a fascist) #Newsom started a podcast and on his first episode platformed far-right, anti-LGBTQ+ influencer Charlie Kirk.

At one point, Newsom stated he was "completely aligned" with Kirk on #transgender participation in sports. He also appeared to express agreement with restrictions on medical care for incarcerated transgender people and limits on gender-affirming healthcare for transgender #youth.

Fuck him, and fuck any democrats who platform the alt right.

Dear Governor Newsom,
I know LA has planned to build housing for the 2028 Olympic athletes, as well as to use already built structures for sports events. Given the enormous need for shelter, I implore you to order the National Guard to create temporary structures for housing as well as use sports-events structures for housing.

I AM BEGGING PEOPLE TO LOOK AT THAT AURA DATA BROKER/THERAPUTIC TREATMENT COMPANY THAT FACIST LIMA WOMAN OWNS.

Please, I know there are so many terrible things we need to work on stopping, but this is already happening. She’s already getting conservatorships on homeless people and using the data from aura to incarcerate them for precrimes.

She killed one woman named Amanda. And she got away with it because Amanda had mental illness, so nobody believed her about the weird stuff that was going on in that “treatment” program.

And she clearly states in her videos for her program that her goal is to work with LA County and the state of California to get all the homeless people on a conservatorship and into her program.

She claims that of course she should be able to get conservatorships on homeless people because if they could take care of themselves they wouldn’t be homeless.

Because of course the only reason someone to be on the streets in Los Angeles is because they just couldn’t figure out how to take care of themselves, it would have nothing to do with the rent amounts or the low levels of Social Security income or anything.

Y’all I didn’t realize these were CIVIL courts. “California’s program empowers civil court judges to order adults into monitored plans that can include housing, social services and treatment for addiction or severe mental illness. Gov. Gavin Newsom, who signed the law in 2022, has called the program a “paradigm shift” that prioritizes Californians who are the most ill and in need. The Democratic governor initially said his administration would serve 2,000 people by the end of 2024.” This is seriously terrifying. I guess I thought it would be run like drug court over here, where it’s like a diversion program to keep people out of the criminal system once they have landed in criminal court. This is terrifying. Someone can file a petition against you and the California court can decide based on a preponderance of evidence to force you into mental health treatment that could involve mandatory medication that if you refuse could cause you to be incarcerated (in a psych unit probably, but still.) This sounds a lot like NH’s conditional discharge program which gives someone’s psychiatrist the equivalent of power of attorney over their mental health treatments. And when this happened to my mom her psychiatrist killed her with inappropriate medication at high doses. By injection. And at the end she decided she would rather get locked up in the hospital where she would at least get a Doctor Who probably wouldn’t be trying to kill her. But that didn’t work either because the ER just called her doctor in for the consult and he decided to give her more medication and send her home with her SI to deal with it by herself. #CareCourt #ConditionalDischarge #CA #Newsom #fascists #MandatoryMedication
