Scary Moondog! Privilege
Folks are starting to balk at games that use #UnrealEngine5, citing it's "unoptimized", but don't acknowledge the industry that's pushing developers to use fast checkbox solutions because it's more affordable than a few additional months of payroll.

I've been bellyaching to my friends about deferred shading and it products where it's implementation is questionable- Alien: Rogue Incursion I'm looking at you- when I bumped into a sentiment that it's the entire game engine that's bad, and they had no interest in hearing about a greater problem brought to us by the industrialization of the hobby.

For those of you that haven't used UE5 - most claims that the engine is optimized is because of inappropriate use of deferred over forward shading alongside Epic, a business, hyping up Nanite and Lumen. They can be really helpful, but for most indie devs, you can just click a few buttons and suddenly UE5 games can run on ten year old cards so long as you continue to use traditional optimization techniques.

I just wanted to complain into the void for a moment, thank you.
