Ret<p>Any electronics bods any thoughts on what connector this might be the footprint for? Other connectors on the board use Lumberg MICS but that doesn't appear to fit here (they also don't make a 7-way version of that). This bit of kit is early-mid 90s if that helps. <a href="https://furry.engineer/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a></p>
Natasha Nox 🇺🇦🇵🇸<p>Aren't there extension cables for these solar panel connectors? I only find "MC4" cables, which seem to be only the connector on the receiving end but not the panell side. I need an extension for the panel side though. as 2 of the 4 panels are further away.</p><p>Do those extension cables even exist, or isn't this meant to be due to some frequency issues? Should I instead get another one of those cables with 4 connectors put them in a row if possible? (Seems to be possible?)<br><a href="https://chaos.social/tags/solar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solar</span></a> <a href="https://chaos.social/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a></p>

Sunflower Björnskalle 🌻<p>Wait, this was more interesting than I thought. With a high enough current, the Lorentz force can compress a conductor so that it doesn't vaporize due to the extreme current. Ari [APz] Sovijärvi<p>A technical question about SPI. I'm looking at a machine, that has 5 SPI peripherals and a controller. The same CS signal is connected to all of the peripherals.</p><p>Am I correct in my thinking that if I would want to reshuffle the devices without access to the firmware in the controller, I'm basically out of luck since it pushes data to all the peripherals with the expectation that the first one takes its piece, forwards the rest to the second and and so forth until everyone has had their share?</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/tinkering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tinkering</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/arduino" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arduino</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/spi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>spi</span></a></p>
Ari [APz] Sovijärvi<p>I encountered an odd problem with Jaws. I booted the game up to check it before cleaning and I had an operator alert about the shark fin being disabled. The game asked me to run the test to enable it, I ran it back and forth couple of times and could not immediately see any of the position optos do anything funny.</p><p>As you can see from the video, the solenoid that kicks the shark fin up is pretty violent, these games suffer from so many solder cracks in connections thanks to the lead free solder used, although I assume the materials have become better from the early lead free solder that developed cracks if you looked at it wrong.</p><p>I examined the board with a magnifying glass, it appears to be intact. I'll chalk this one up as a fluke and come back to it if it starts acting up more frequently.</p><p><a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinrepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinrepair</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/arcaderepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arcaderepair</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/pinball" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinball</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/arcade" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arcade</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.games/tags/retrotech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrotech</span></a></p>
